How can I resolve an issue of a group of lads always driving their poxy scooters/bikes up and down the road?

Just like cars, motor scooters and mopeds lose a considerable amount of value as soon as they leave the lot. Add to that the shorter lifespans (not in terms of age, but in terms of mileage) of motor scooters, and it's pretty obvious that the secondary market for used mopeds is ripe for the picking. On this blog and on our partner cheap scooters site, we find and post the best deals from around the web.

For some reason they enjoy going up and down the same road, back and forth for upto 45 minutes before they get bored. Then perhaps return for some more 'fun' a few hours later. It is a quiet road off the busy roads and ideal not to be spotted by police. They make a racket from their bikes, or if they stop and chat very loudly to each other which is just as disturbing. As it is not a urgent matter, would the police come along and tick them off, assuming they get here before they go? There are several families with young kids, and many pensioners who don't like it either.
I myself have three cats (one of which is pregnant) and our house is on the corner (where the road also follows along). My cats always cross this road to get to some woods and tiny field. If any of them were hurt, I'd be really peeved off, as would the bikers when captured and tortured. Peacefully or not, what do you think can be done to sort them out?
In terms of bursting their tyres, many cars have to drive along the road as well..including mine

I'll give you an honest sensible answer instead of inciting criminal damage (tyre slashing) or further offences of causing danger to a vehicle on a road (piano wire across the road etc) or wasting Police time by false reporting of an accident (£80 ticket-able offence) etc etc

If they are are taxed, insured and have licences then there's technically nothing you can do as they have as much right to drive on the road than anyone else. If however they are committing offences then they can obviously be dealt with but the Police would have to catch then first and from experience, this is not easy as the officer would have to be there at the time and would have to be able to physically stop them (not as easy as it sounds).

If however, their actions are causing a nuisance, they could be given a warning under section 59 of the Police reform act which basically means that their manner of driving has caused some annoyance or distress and they are warned to behave. If they don't, they can have their vehicles seized and disposed of if necessary. This is something that would have to be proved or witnessed by an officer though so again not easy to do but not impossible.

Hope this helps

The local police can't do anything unless they are made aware of the situation - if enough of your neighbours made a complaint then they would have to act. You could also use a video camera to film the worst offenders, they are breaking the law by disturbing the peace so this can be a matter for the police. Tell them!

Buy an air rifle and brush up on your target practice, then come around to my house and repeat on the little swines that plague our area

Call the front desk of your police department and ask to set up a 'patrol request.' If you give them a certain time frame about when it happens, they can usually arrange for an officer to be in the area at that time and sit on the street for a certain amount of time in order to catch them in the act.

Just call the police and tell them your concerns and they will respond to the call,
it maybe they are not insured and tax then it becomes a crime .
good luck

Inform your local police. Are they young kids?.do they wear helmets.chances are they dont.they are breaking the law.the cops should stop them and inform their parents.probably not insured either. But dont take the law into your own hands, and dont confront them yourself, this would be dangerous and probably get you in trouble.

Next time you see them arrive call the police and report that a scooter rider has just had a accident. police would be there like a shot and I'm sure that your white lies about the noise making you think there had been a serious accident would be believed.

A shotgun always seems to do the trick! ;-) Outside of that, there isn't much unless you complain to local police and see if they can set up some enforcement in that area. You have the right to request that. Possibly take a petition around to the neighbors requesting the special enforcement and have them sign it.

There is little that you can do … oh! maybe you could request speed bumps to be put in! That works in our neighborhood.

This is almost certainly a statutory nuisance and you need to contact the enviromental health dept at your local council and possibly the highways dept. Keep a diary, and film footage is also useful. I have recently won a case very similar and the culprits have received asbo's. I now have peace and quiet and the street is a uch safer place. It is useful to get your neighbours backing as this will strenghthen your complaint. Good Luck.

Call the fuzz! They'll drive up in there all to obvious police cars and start nattering to the little b****ers trying to make them see reason!
These kids aren't even put off if one of their mates get injured, never mind your cats!
But if you keep calling the fuzz, they will in time do something about it! You might even b lucky and get your road made into a cul-de-sac!

question 1 where are you ? are you in calif? if you are the bikes can not driven on the street ,and they can not be reged
in calif the dmv rules state they are not motor cycles .
#2 do you live on a dirt road or a paved road ?
#3 get hold of the police or sheriff departments and tell them whats going on and they might be able to step up patrols out
there.
